Introduction To Personal Development

Change happens one step at a time. The process is not complicated, but it might be the hardest thing you ever do.

Step one is  figuring out what kind of change you want to make. Next, it’s doing the work of understanding what is keeping you from making that change because if it was easy you probably would have done it already. Lastly, it’s putting into practice the behaviors of the change you want to implement.

1. Decide on the change
2. Understand the Obstacles
3. Practice New Behaviors

And there you have it. Three steps and you can become more impactful than you were before. It’s not complicated, it’s only three steps. But it might be the hardest thing you have ever done. And if you succeed? Well, then you will have done something that a small percentage of people do. You will have changed, you will have overcome a barrier keeping you from having more impact in this world. And if you do that, what else is possible?
This manual is your guide for change. It will help you aim your efforts to get the most from your work, and will help you see where you might have been missing the mark in the past. A little adjusting, a stronger pull on the bow, and you might be hitting the mark more often when you are done.

Impact Development Model

People are complex. It is impossible to completely categorize a person’s way of being into a few boxes. No model of human behavior fully captures the nuances of you. And yet, if you want to make change, you have to start somewhere, and you have to know where you are going. This requires some sort of map. A map orients you. It shows you the terrain between where you are and where you want to be. Below is a map to help orient your understanding of development.
The best map in the world is not going to make a difference if you are not willing to put in the work. The reason you haven’t changed yet is primarily because doing something different than what you normally do is some of the hardest work there is. The following program is going to give you a map for development, help you orient yourself so you know where you are, and help you understand how you need to change. But the work of getting there is going to be up to you.

Effort = Change
